Time and Tide

Once home to the kings of ancient Northumbria, Bamburgh Castle is one of Northumberland’s most iconic buildings.  The castle as seen today is a relatively recent structure dating back no further than late Victorian times.  Even so, the impressive fortress is a magnet to photographers.

This photograph was taken very early on a cold October morning when the sun was already above the horizon with golden tones filtering through the cloud cover.

I wanted to capture the feeling of the advancing waves washing slowly up the beach towards the castle  -  which I certainly did when, caught unaware, the approaching North Sea suddenly washed into my boots!  Time and tide……..
